Getting Started: Enabling Your Admin Access

Getting Started: Enabling Your Admin Access

Before you can build layouts for your school or district, you must first enable the new dashboard for yourself. This is the first step in the migration process.

Understanding Access: Role vs. User Settings

To troubleshoot access effectively, it is important to understand how Clevr applies the Landing Page setting.
  1. Role Setting (The Template): The Landing Page setting on the Role configuration is a template. It is applied to a user's account only at the moment the account is created. It has no permanent link to the user afterwards.
  2. User Setting (The Experience): Once an account exists, the user's experience is determined solely by the specific setting on their personal profile.
NotesKey Takeaway: If you change the Role setting today, it will not automatically update existing users. They will continue to see the old dashboard until you either update them individually or perform a bulk reset.

Step 1: Choose Your Activation Method

There are two ways to enable the new dashboard. We recommend Option A for your very first login to ensure everything works before switching over your fellow administrators.

Option A: Individual Activation

Use this method to enable the dashboard only for your specific user account without affecting anyone else.

  1. Navigate to the Person Management module.
  2. Search for and open your own user account.
  3. Locate the Roles / Locations card.
  4. Click Edit on your role assignment.
  5. Change the Default Landing Page to Dashboard ver.2025.
  6. Click Save.

Option B: Role-Wide Bulk Update

Use this method to force the update for all existing users in a specific role (e.g., your Admin team).

  1. Navigate to the Clevr Configuration page and open the Roles card.
  2. Select your role (e.g., "District Lead").
  3. Set the Default: Change the Landing page dropdown to Dashboard ver.2025.
  4. Save the Role: Click Update (or Save) to commit this change.
    1. Critical Step: You must save the role first for the new default to register.
  5. Re-open the Role: Click on the role name again to open the Edit Role window.
  6. Update Existing Users: Click the RESET ACCOUNT SETTINGS button in the top right corner.
  7. In the pop-up window:
    1. Find Reset landing page and change it to Yes.
    2. Click the Update button.

Step 2: Log In to the New Experience

The landing page setting takes effect upon your next authentication.
  1. Log out of Clevr entirely.
  2. Log back in.
You will immediately be greeted by the Dashboard 2025 interface.

Step 3: Enable the "Legacy" Safety Net

Now that you are inside the new dashboard, we highly recommend enabling the "Legacy Access" feature.

This setting allows you to toggle back to the previous dashboard view at any time. This is critical during setup, as it allows you to reference your old widget placements or perform tasks in the old interface if you encounter any configuration issues.

  1. In the top navigation bar, click the Configuration menu (Wrench icon) and select Dashboard Configuration.
  2. The Global Dashboard Settings screen should open by default. (If not, click "Global Dashboard Settings" in the left menu).
  3. Scroll down to the Legacy Access section.
  4. Change the dropdown to Role Based.
  5. In the list of roles that appears, check the box next to your role (e.g., "District Lead").
  6. Click Save in the top right corner.
Info
Note: You can also select "Yes" to enable it for everyone, but "Role Based" is safer during the testing phase.

Step 4: Using the Legacy Switch

Once enabled, you will see a new icon in the top left menu of the Home page (next to the Help button).
  1.  The Button: Look for the Four Square icon .
  2. Session Persistence: When you click this button, you will switch to the legacy dashboard and remain there for the duration of your session.
  3. Returning to New Dashboard: To return to Dashboard 2025, you must log out and log back in.
